BS and BC definitely need a LOT of love compared to how badly they are outclassed by literally everything smaller.
I suppose I don't really have any issue with the amount of dps they are capable of, but I agree, these are supposed to be huge, impressive ships-of-the-line, and currently they are just laughable.
Actually laughable is the perfect word. We see baltecs, we laugh. We catch some lone bs doing PVE, we laugh. We see a small gang trying to use BS, we laugh.
There is no reasonable application of battleship use in Eve online that does not cause us to laugh.
Whatever CCP does, they need to change it so that if you are flying something smaller, like hacs or cruisers or whatever, and you do encounter BS, you should not be laughing. Not. At. All.
But what do you do to a class of ship that is extremely vulnerable to small ships that can kite it while paralyzing its mobility, or getting the snot bombed out of it?
Give it some teeth.
I'm not going to spout 'boost EHP' although I do believe that is one thing in dire need. I'll suggest a few extreme changes (I get the best reactions out of those heheh)
- boost scan res significantly (these are huge ships its hard to believe it should take a year to lock a frig) - resistance to webbing (they are slow enough already) - resistance to warp disruptors: require several distruptors or one scram to tackle any BS (yes lots of people should now hate that it would now take lots of work to tackle a bs) - no more class-size bonus for weapons. Ship bonuses now apply to all weapons, allowing for some BS to fit anti-tackle 'point-defense'
Just a few crazy ideas... |

A quick look at your KB for this toon seems to validate most everone's arguments about just how bad battleships are. TBH we are both likely fielding battleships as frequently as the other....as in, an average of one undocking per insurance cycle (not exactly worth it eh).

Hate to break it to you, but everything sub-bc already got its 'power creep'. Boost EHP and dps of battleships, and yes, people will want something more powerful to beat them, like, say, battleships? IMHO more people in battleships would be a good thing, no? |

I'd be pretty happy if they doubled EHP, yes, doubled, and made the hull weapons bonus apply to all size guns. There you go.
- Now much more surviveable to bombs (will take more than one run to kill), - can fit smaller guns for point defense and still retain hull weapons bonus (now the ship can do multiroles) - can slug it out on the field a lot longer than currently |

How about making bombs targetable...and almost instalockable. Let BS defend themselves using their own guns.
I'm somewhat reminded of the way ordnance was constantly being intercepted in B5. |

My wishlist is pretty simple:
-huge raw hitpoint increase (ie 2 or 3x current) -huge scan res increase -weapon bonuses applied to all weapon sizes |

Not even counting the predominance of t3, the power creep that has occurred as far down as t1 cruisers already outclasses battleships. Boosting resists is definitely not the way to go since their is already too much logi used in this game. Having a huge boost of EHP does serve a dual-purpose, the most important of which being bomb damage mitigation (bombz are 90% of the reason you do not see more fleets of battleships in null, and not just one megathron roaming around with ascendancy implants)
For scan res, yes, you are spot on what I would consider to be a reasonable boost.
For weapon system scaling, we have already been introduced to battleship weapons bonuses that apply to all size classes: Barghest. If not for the first two other reasons, this ship would make for a great anti-tackle point defense fleet addition. |

I wish that in Eve, there was diminishing returns on logi, so much that no matter how many you had, they could never prevent the destruction of a ship in fleet, but at best, buy that ship a little more time before it goes boom. Fights would be much more chaotic. Many more ships would blow up, on both sides. Did I mention I like stuff that blows up?
Eventually I'd like to see huge fleet fights where every individual pilot has to start making every move count, such as whether to shoot at a primary target that they expect to yield little result with, or to shoot at another target which they are more certain will inflict more damage in the long run. While not strategically sound, it would be a lot of fun to be flying through a huge battle with munitions flying in all directions, not just everybody focused on one single target. |

I still think that the best change they could make to all battleships would be to remove the weapon bonus that are based on class, allow that bonus to apply to all weapon sizes.
This would give battleships the choice to fit some large weapons but keep some smaller ones for point-defense, or even have some battleships in a fleet solely set for point defense work.
and if CCP thinks that having a BS with a full rack of bonused small guns is just a little too OP, they could lock the bonus to a specific number of hislots or whatever. |
